Friends of Overtoun Park is a voluntary community group.
Our aim is to:
  • to improve the existing facilities in the park
  • protect and enhance the natural beauty of the park
  • to encourage more people in the community to visit and enjoy the park's facilities

Since the group formed in 2011, Friends of Overtoun Park have
  • improved the play area by installing a variety of new equipment: a new climbing frame for age 10+, aerial glider, seesaw. zip wire, new climbing frame for under 3's, and various types of swings.  Funding for this development was granted by the Cathkin Relief Road Fund.
  • installed a toddler track next to the BMX track.  Funding was granted by the Cathkin Relief Road Fund.
  • installed a noticeboard in the park to allow us to advertise park events.  Pride of Place funded the noticeboard. (2016)
  • installed more waste bins in the park with thanks to Pride of Place who funded this project. (2015)
  • worked with Community Payback Team to improve the BMX track and make it more challenging with the aim of attracting more BMXers to the track. (2014)
  • installed metal railings around the play area to ensure the safety of children and to stop dogs fouling in the play area.  Funding for this was awarded by Pride of Place. (2012)
